My Story, The Two Worlds
My first sweat lodge was in 1993. I was sure I would die there in the heat. When we got out, I felt completely vulnerable and completely strong at the same time. — something I had not encountered in my career.
I kept coming back. First as a participant, then as an assistant, then as a co-trainer, finally as a trainer who himself held the hut, the vision quest, firewalk and ceremonies for other men. No certificates. Fire, blood, sweat and years.
The second revelation came in 2002. My first ayahuasca ceremony in The Hague. I saw my whole life as one common thread — every job, every failure, every relationship connected to something old. I saw the knowledge of my ancestors and who I really was among the marketer, the strategist, the designer.
That night I stopped pretending that the two worlds belonged apart.
The marketer and the shaman turned out to be sitting at the same table.
Everything I built after that, Tribal Coaching, Tribal Warrior, Tribal Circles, Soundfulness, Free Soul, comes back to those two nights. And at every cabin, quest, firewalk and ceremony since.
