At the end of 2020, the coronavirus regulations imposed a ban on group sessions, and training could no longer be held. My active teaching role ended there, and the school was closed down.

What is Nomore Gurus?

The work of Nomore Gurus is not for everyone.


You have to bring a question. A specific one. And a desire for a kind of knowledge that is not simply available in ordinary life, not in the books you order in an afternoon, not in the next weekend workshop, not in the algorithm that keeps promising you the answer.

Nomore Gurus is for people looking for essential answers to timeless questions. People who have already traveled a road, sometimes several, and at the end of them did not find what they were actually looking for. They are not easily satisfied by simple texts. They want to be challenged. From respect, from integrity, and from an almost unnameable curiosity for more.

No one needs the work of Nomore Gurus. The possibility of real transformation is available only as a free choice, a choice made from strength, from leadership, and from trust. Not from need.

Who is it for?

You will recognize yourself here if:

  • You've read the books, done the trainings, sat with the teachers, and the questions are still open.
  • You're done with easy answers dressed in beautiful words.
  • You are willing to be seen, to be questioned, and to look at yourself honestly.
  • You have enough life behind you to know that knowing and understanding are two different things.
  • You are ready to work, not on your personality, but on what lies beneath it.

  • It is not for people who want to be told what to think, what to feel, or what to become.
  • It's not for people who haven't yet found their own question.
  • The name is precise. No more gurus. The work begins where the search for one ends.

The Fourth Way

Nomore Gurus is rooted in the tradition of P.D. Ouspensky and G.I. Gurdjieff, known as the Fourth Way.

The First Way is the way of the fakir: work on the body.
The Second Way is the way of the monk: work on the emotions.
The Third Way is the way of the yogi: work on the mind.


The Fourth Way is the way of the man or woman in ordinary life. It doesn't ask you to leave your work, your family, or your responsibilities. It asks you to fold the work on yourself into them. To wake up inside the life you already have.

That tradition is the ground on which the Nomore Gurus curriculum stands.

Frank Middendorp

Frank Middendorp is a Dutch philosopher, thinker, and teacher whose work moves at the intersection of clarity, personal branding, and the Fourth Way. His public work, at frankmiddendorp.nl, begins with one sentence: every change begins with clarity.

Frank is affiliated with the Gurdjieff Ouspensky Foundation, and it is that tradition that shapes the curriculum, the questions, and the way the school carries its participants.

Coen Tuerlings

The collaboration: I've known Frank for many years. Two men, two backgrounds, one shared table.

Frank entered through philosophy and clarity, the mind that gives structure, holds the questions, and carries the Fourth Way tradition with precision.

I entered through the sweat lodge, the vision quest, the fire, and thirty years of holding ritual space. Marketer on one side, shaman on the other, and in 2002 I stopped pretending those two worlds were separate.

Nomore Gurus is where these two lines meet. Frank developed the Challenge, Quest, and Leadership curriculum. I brought in the Tribal Circles, Tribal Warrior, and Tribal Master work, from what I know of the field: how a group carries a human being, how ritual makes visible what the mind alone cannot see, and how the body must be in the room if the work is to truly land.

You won't find me teaching within Nomore Gurus. That's Frank's chair. My role is to point serious seekers toward a school that can truly meet them and to stand behind the work, to embody it. What's happening there

Nomore Gurus is not a weekend retreat. It's not a course. It's not a program you finish.


It's a school. In the old sense of the word.

You bring your question. You are given work, inner work, group work, the kind of exercise that only becomes meaningful when you actually do it. You are met by other people who are also there, because they have to be, not because it looked interesting.

The rhythm is long. The work is patient. Nothing is promised on a timeline.

That is exactly the point.

Not everyone who reads this page belongs to Nomore Gurus. That's fine. Most schools are for most people. This one isn't.
